Abstract

A simple and rapid procedure has been developed for the determination of serum cholesterol by the Vickers M-300 Automated Biochemical Analysis System. This method is based on the purple colour formed with the o-phthalaldehyde reagent1,2. To reduce the viscosity, we have attempted to develop an intense colour in the cholesterol reaction using a small and then diluting at a later stage. This method has shown low interference by bilirubin and a high correlation between the M-300, D-300, and other ordinary manual methods.
