Abstract

The cavity-forming free energies of micellization (ΔG o cav ) for a series of sodium alkyl (C 8 -C 14 ) sulfates have been computed according to scaled-particle theory (SPT). Other conventional components of free energies (ΔG o i ) of micellization for these detergents have also been calculated by use of previously developed models. Analysis of ΔG o cav indicates that cavity-forming free energies play an important role in the process of micellization
