Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of quality control cycle (QCC) on the improvement of artificial airway comfort. Methods The QCC was established, and then followed the steps of QCC to analyze man-made reasons and effective airway expectoration reasons. The patients′ comfort improved by enhancing airway humidification, timely sputum suction, comfortable position and sleep, then we compared the level of comfort before and after treatment. Results The effective expectoration, airway humidification sputum suction, sleep quality significantly improve (t=-4.278, -27.531, -18.860, -18.212, respectively; P<0.01), and the comfort level increased 39.40% to 81.32%. The attainment rate of objective 120.91%, and the rate of progress 123.16%. Finally, the standardization of nursing procedure had been established, and we set up the nursing quality standard of artificial airway, nursing routine for patients with tracheostomy, and designed integrative tracheostomy nursing cart. Besides, the member of QCC were facilitated their work enthusiasm, personal expression ability, creativity, responsibility and sense of honor. Conclusions The use of QCC on artificial airway management improved the quality of specific nursing, also conducted inventions, and contributes to hospital and society economy.
