Abstract

A technique to measure elongation in wovennylon tape through the use of post-yield strain gages has been developed. By using an intermediate sheet of urethane bonded between a filled portion of the nylon tape and the gage, strains on the order of 8–9 percent can be achieved quite consistently. One specimen achieved 11.2 percent elongation before failure. The development of this bonding technique is discussed.
