Abstract

Techniques have been developed to use position sensitive detectors (PSD) at pulsed neutron sources. Two different types of TOF spectrometer equipped with PSD have been installed at two different pulsed neutron sources. The first is a single crystal diffractometer with a one‐dimensional (1D) PSD and the second is a small‐angle scattering machine with a two dimensional (2D) PSD. The former has been used to detect the diffuse scattering from a single crystal of Cu3Mn. The latter has been used to observe the long‐period helical structure of a single crystal of MnSi as well as for studies of purple membrane and collagen.
