Abstract

The performance of low cement castable with polycarboxylate was studied by comparing the effects of polycarboxylate superplasticisers KS-JS70 and LMS-P and sodium tripolyphosphate on castable samples. The fluidity, bulk density, apparent porosity, compressive strength and bending strength of the castable samples at room temperature were determined, and the scanning electron microscopy images of the samples under different temperatures were analysed. Results showed that the use of polycarboxylate superplasticisers KS-JS70 and LMS-P reduced the water consumption, improved the fluidity, increased the compressive bending strength at room temperature and enhanced the physical properties of the castable samples. The slurry rheology and ζ-potential of powder particles were measured to analyse the mechanism of polycarboxylate in low cement castables.
