Abstract

With the development of society, the national standards for talent training are constantly improving. In order to meet the needs of society, CET-4 (College English Test Band 4) is constantly changing and improving. Since 2013, CET-4 translation has changed greatly, the difficulty of translation has been significantly increased, and total score has changed from 5 to 15. Therefore, how to improve translation teaching strategies to enable students to achieve high scores in paragraph translation is an urgent problem to be solved. POA (production-oriented approach) is not only a brand new teaching method, but also a foreign language teaching theory with Chinese characteristics constructed by professor Wen Qiufang and his team, a famous foreign language teaching and research expert in China. In order to explore whether POA can effectively improve students’ translation ability in CET-4, this study adopts a comparative teaching experiment method to observe and verify the teaching effect of POA. The results show that POA can significantly improve students’ translation scores in CET-4, and students are more inclined to accept this teaching model in the future teaching.
