Abstract

Objective To explore the application of PBL teaching in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery in medical students' critical thinking improvement. Methods Sixty-two students were randomly divided into PBL with core of PBL teaching group and traditional teaching group. Effects of teaching were assessed by Chinese critical thinking disposition inventory. Results Before teaching, there is no difference between two group of students in seeking truth, open mind, analysis ability, systematic competence, self-confidence, curiosity, the cognitive maturity and total score. While the difference is statistically significant after teaching(P<0.05). Conclusion Implementation of PBL teaching in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery has a positive effect on the cultivation of students' critical thinking ability.
