Abstract

A highway tunnel import will be built on the ice deposits fan on the right bank of the Dadu River. Because of the water storage of Pubugou Hydropower Station, about a quarter in front of the bank slope will be underwater. The main geotechnical material impacting the entire slope is the ice deposits composed by upper-middle PleistoceneIce glacier sediments and glacio-aqueous sediments. Under the action of water, its physical and mechanical properties and strength will be significantly changed, weakening engineering behavior, thus affecting the bank slope stability and the abutment arrangement. On the basis of the bank slope engineering geological conditions, rock and soil structure and mechanical properties, the analysis of factors affecting slope, numerical simulation is used in the bank-slope stability analysis after the impoundment situation. In the case of static highest impoundment level, the stress field and deformation characteristics show that the slope exists the instability possibility very large and must be prevented. Meanwhile, after reservoir impounding, the slope stability states under different excavation conditions are compared to determine a reasonable excavation supporting measures, and provide a quantitative reference for supporting structure and the location selection and support strength set.
