Abstract

MXene-based photocatalysts for photocatalytic degradation exhibit extensive applications and promising prospects for environmental treatment. This chapter summarizes the application of MXene-based photocatalysts in the degradation of organic pollutant and their corresponding reaction mechanism. In the photocatalytic degradation reaction, MXene plays a multiple role in promoting the separation of photogenerated charge carriers, the generation of active free radicals, the adsorption of reactants and the desorption of products, and increasing the light absorption. The challenges and application prospects of the MXene-based photocatalyst in photocatalytic degradation is also proposed.
