Abstract
ABSTRACT Recently developed well testing and analysis techniques for multilayered reservoirs to estimate individual-layer permeabilities, skin factors, and pressure are discussed with regard to their applications to a two-layered reservoir. The multilayer testing technique consists of a number of sequential flow tests with downhole flow rate and pressure measurements at the top of each layer using the production logging tool. The analysis techniques are based on convolution and the use of nonlinear regression to fit the measured downhole flow rate or pressure data with a layered reservoir model. This paper presents a field example that is used to estimate layer parameters. The results are compared to those from conventional analyses.
