Abstract

In this article, power system stability enhancement by SSSC based damping controller using modified local input signal is considered. The locally measurable active power is used to obtain the input signal to the SSSC based damping controller for both single and multi machine power system. The proposed optimal controller parameters are tuned by using MOL based optimizing algorithm. The dynamics performance of the proposed controller is obtained under different loading condition to show the effectiveness and robustness of the controller under different disturbance and operating condition. The performance of the controller is compared by taking remote signal, local signal and modified local signal as input signal to the controller. It is observed that when modified local signal is considered it gives better damping performance as compared to local and remote input signal.
