Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of modified enema method in constipation nursing care of bedridden patients. Methods A total of 78 patients with bedridden diarrhea were randomly divided into a modified enema group (observation group) and a normal enema group (control group). On the basis of whole nursing care, the control group were traditionally and routinely cared and the observation group received modified enema and constipation nursing care. The effect and comfort of constipation were observed and compared. Results In the control group, 28 cases were markedly effective, 10 cases were effective, 1 case was ineffective; in the observation group, 36 cases were markedly effective, 3 cases were effective, and 0 case was ineffective; with a statistical difference (P=0.018). In the control group, 2 cases was very comfortable, 28 cases comfortable, and 9 cases uncomfortable; while in the observation group, 20 cases was very comfortable, 17 cases comfortable, and 2 cases uncomfortable; with a statistical difference (P=0.000). These indicated that the modified enema method was significantly better than the control group. Conclusion Constipation is a common complication of bedridden patients. Modified enema in constipation nursing care is an effective nursing method for the prevention and treatment of constipation in fracture bedridden patients and is worth being generalized.
