Abstract

Objective To evaluate application effect of medical messenger information system in patients' follow-up visit.Methods 700 patients in hand and foot surgery department were divided into the study group and the control group according to their admission date.There were 350 patients in each group.Patients in the control group were given routine follow-up visit,and patients in the study group were given routine follow-up visit plus medical messenger aided follow-up visit.Compliance rate,recovery of injured limb,complication rate and patients' satisfaction rate were assessed and compared respectively.Results No significant difference was found of the types of surgeries the patients undergone between the two groups(P > 0.05).Recovery rate of injured limb in the study group(81%)was higher than that in the control group (63%).The difference was statistically significant(x2 =20.08,P < 0.05).Complication rate in the study group(3%)was lower than that in the control group(10%).The difference was statistically significant(x2 =7.08,P <0.05).Patients' satisfaction rate in the study group(98%)was higher than that in the control group (91%).Conclusions Medical messenger information system is effective in patients' follow-up visit.It can significantly improve compliance rate,promote recovery of injured limb,reduce complication rate and enhance patients' satisfaction rate.
