Abstract

Objective To explore the application value of medial plantar flap in repairing foot soft tissue defect. Methods Eight cases with foot soft tissue defects were treated by medial plantar island flap. Mark the projection line of malleolus and posterior tibial artery between the heel, then mark the intersection between front line extension of malleolus and plantar medial border, as the flap rotation point here. Draw a straight line from the flap rotation point to the first and second metatarsus,as the asis line of flap. In accordance with the wounds after debridement of foot size and shape to design flap in the non-weight-bearing area which 5 cm on each side of the axis line and behind metatarsal head. Results All flap survived completely, wound had been well healing, All cases were followed up for 6~13 months.The acceptance region won't swelling, and had satisfactory appearance. The figure and feeling of the supply area were good. Conclusions The method of using medial plantar skin flap to repair the soft tissue defects of foot can achieve the results of good shapes and functions with simple and flexible operation and safe treatment.
