They contain about half of the organic carbon of the world and expand all around the earth. So identifying and prospecting them is very essential for many countries. One effective tool to detect gas hydrates is seismic attributes. Using them as the features of a classification method like neural network, can help to separate gas hydrate zones from nonhydrate ones. In these cases, choosing optimized number of features is very important factor in classification method. To reduce the redundancy of seismic attributes and find the most meaningful out of them, Local Fisher Discriminant Analysis (LFDA) has been used as feature reduction technique based on data labels. This method is the combination of FDA and LPP methods. In this research, LFDA is applied to seismic data of Oman Sea. The result of classification with this technique is much better than the result of initial attributes classification. Hence the classification error in this matter reduced about 7%.
