Abstract

In the south of China, the ground is covered with thick vegetation, there are dense population and rich infrastructures in mountainous areas. Seismic acquisition designs without high-resolution geographic information data will cause great safety risks, and also have direct influence on the efficiency and quality of seismic acquisition. Since part of the laser can penetrate thick vegetation, high-resolution Digital Orthophoto Maps (DOM’s) are generated using Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). DOM-assisted seismic acquisition optimization can improve the accuracy of source location, the safety risk of seismic exploration and the field workload can be reduced. We provide a field case in which the LiDAR and high-resolution aerial images was used in the Sichuan Basin improve the seismic acquisition pre-planning and field operation management. The practical application results show that LiDAR can effectively improve the accuracy of pre-planning of source and receiver points in complex and the efficiency and quality of seismic data acquisition, and reduce the safety risk of seismic exploration
