Abstract

Objective To explore the application effects of interactive health education for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) . Methods By convenience sampling, 80 patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in Yiwu Central Hospital in Zhejiang Province from January 2015 to December 2017 were selected as participants in the study. Based on the random number table, they were divided into observation group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. The conventional nursing model and health education was adopted in the control group, whereas the interactive health education on the basis of conventional nursing model was adopted in the observation group. After discharge, monthly follow-up visits lasting 6 months were carried out for both of the two groups. After six months' intervention, the two groups were compared in terms of the intervention effects and scores achieved in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ) , Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) , and the Rating Scale of Health Self-Management Skill for Adults (AHSMSRS) . Results The scores in IBDQ, SAS and AHSMSRS all increased compared with those before intervention in both groups and the observation group was better than the control group with statistical difference (P<0.05) . The overall effective rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than the control group with statistical difference (P<0.05) . Conclusions Interactive health education can increase ulcerative colitis patients' activity in treatment, improve their quality of life, alleviate their anxiety and other negative emotions, so that the patients have a higher level of self-management and restraint ability, and ultimately improve the treatment effects for them.
