Abstract

This paper inspects the usage of Internet of Things (IOT), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Global Positioning System (GPS) in supply chain management as how the use of modern technology is transforming the methods of doing the businesses in new decades. As we are aware that supply chains are now internationalized, connected with the world and is more complex operation incorporating latest technologies. Raw materials, readymade products travel across, any geographic location and passes through various level as suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, carriers and service providers. There is a whole new digitization in SCM, and firms are looking ahead to exploit the new and innovative technologies as Artificial Intelligence (AI), block chain, IOT, RFID and GPS for better supply chain management. With the emergence of these technologies a better automated system can be developed and get real time data. The IOT is the next technological innovation in which internal connected embedded Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) systems seamlessly coalesce supply chain and logistics process. RFID used in SCM, is technology that applies an RFID tag on object as people so that they can be identified, tracked and managed automatically. Due to its wide application, it’s become a promising technology in SCM. Along with RFID, GPS are also used for monitoring and tracking the products indoors and outdoors. PS basically being associated with outdoor tracking. Therefore, the research paper explains the application of IOT, RFID and GPS for transparency and better tracking system both outer and internal environment in supply chain management.
