Abstract

In this paper, hybrid analytical modeling is applied on slotted surface-mounted PM machines. The stator is meshed using an adaptive non-uniform magnetic equivalent circuit so as to carefully take into account the complex slot geometry. All the other regions of the machine are modeled using Fourier modeling. The proposed method is compared to FEA based on local and global quantities. For high-density meshes, both methods reveal to be in perfect agreement. For low-density meshes, it is shown they offer approximately the same accuracy-to-computation time ratio.
