Abstract

Objective To study the application of humanistic nursing in patients with closed thoracic drainage after thoracotomy. Methods A total of 130 cases with closed thoracic drainage after thoracotomy were chosen from January 2012 to August 2014, 65 cases of pre-treated patients were served as the control group, and 65 cases of late stage-treated patients were served as the observation group. The control group received routine nursing care, while the observation group added humanized nursing. The postoperative pain degree, drainage time, satisfaction and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results After the operation, 4 patients had the most severe pain, 13 patients had severe pain, 42 patients had moderate pain, and 6 patients had mild pain in the observation group, which were significantly better than those of the control group (Z=3.72, P<0.05). The average retention time of drainage tube and the score of satisfaction in the observation group were (68.50±1.79)hours and (98.72±1.16), which were significantly better than those of the control group (t=5.185, 3.627, respectively; P<0.05). The rate of complication in the observation group was 4.62%, which was significantly lower than that of the control group(12.31%), (χ2=8.637, P<0.01). Conclusions Humanization nursing in patients with closed thoracic drainage after thoracotomy can shorten the drainage time, reduce pain and the incidence of postoperative complications, as well as improve the degree of satisfaction. It is beneficial for patients′ physical rehabilitation. Key words: Satisfaction; Postoperative Complication; Closed drainage; Humanize nursing
