Abstract

Objective In order to reduce the patinets′ complications of scrotum surgery, shorten the length of hospitalization, and improve patient satisfaction. Methods Self-designed scrotal support shorts were used for 77 patents who accepted scrotal surgery in 2013 as experimental group while 77 patients who received scrotal surgery in 2012 were selected as control group. We compared postoperative rehabilitation, incidence of complications, average length of hospitalization, and patients′ satisfaction. Results The incidences of scrotal haemorrhage/edema and wound infection in the experimental group were just under those of the control group (P>0.05). The average length of hospitalization in the experimental group was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The patients′ satisfaction in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of self-designed scrotal support shorts can promote patients′ rehabilitation, and is a simple and effective preventive measure.
