Abstract

In order to reduce the complications associated with invasive mechanical ventilation, non-invasive respiratory support is used widely in the clinical work.However, the optimal approach and mode for non-invasive ventilation remains uncertain.As a new mode of non-invasive respiratory support, high-frequency nasal ventilation(HFNV)theoretically should combine the advantages of nasal CPAP and high-frequency ventilation, which is often used in the respiratory support of newborns, particularly in the extremely low birth weight infants.We review the research progress and application of the HFNV in the treatment of neonatal respiratory failure.
