Abstract
This research explains how the application of green architecture in vernacular landscapes with a case study in The Ciptagelar Traditional Village, which is in the Mount Halimun National Park Area, Sukabumi Regency. This village has an area of 4,096 hectares and is administratively located in Sukabumi Regency, Lebak Regency, and Bogor Regency. The entire area is still a forest, or leuweung, in Sundanese. A vernacular landscape is a landscape with certain characteristics that have been developed and designed for generations by civilians, without the intervention of architects or landscape experts. This research will identify and describe the application of 6 principles of green architecture according to Brenda and Robert Vale, 1991, Green Architecture Design for Sustainable Future: Conserving Energy, Working with Climate, Respect for Site, Respect for Users, Limiting New Resources, and Holistic. With the qualitative method approach, this research finds that The Ciptagelar Traditional Village has applied green architectural principles to its landscape, although the concept of living is based on customary regulations and ancestral culture that has been carried out for generations (vernacular landscape).
