Abstract
This paper presents a method for energy loss reduction in distribution networks. It is based on heuristic techniques (such as the branch exchange technique) and on fuzzy logic. This algorithm was improved by considering the loads as fuzzy numbers, which reflects better the uncertainty of the power demand in distribution networks. An efficient mathematical approach, based on topological matrixes, was used. For a substantial reduction of the computation time, the calculation of the power system state is not made at each computing step. The developed algorithms have been implemented as a C++ software product. Test results on real distribution networks show that the performance of this software is very good.
