Abstract

The paper presents a novel control scheme for a PV-array connected to grid through ZSI system by using the Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) methodology. The mathematical model of the power system is implemented using MATLAB-SIMULINK simulation toolbox including its control system. FLCs are well designed to enhance the system stability by controlling the inverter modulation index. Also, the control in the shoot-through ratio controls the PV-array voltage to transmit the available power. The simulated results using FLCs are compared with those obtained using the conventional Proportional Integral (PI) controllers at the normal operation or under fault conditions. The system is subjected to various disturbances as irradiation variation, 3-phase short circuit fault at point of connection and variation in grid voltage. From the simulated results, the control using FLCs enhances the system stability under various operating conditions over the conventional PI controllers.
