Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of Fresnel press-on prism for concomitant esotropia in children. Methods Forty children with concomitant esotropia were included,among them,16cases of refractive accommodative esotropia,11 of part accommodative esotropia,5 of secondary esotropia,8 of mini angle of esotropia.Press-on prism prescripted in one eye according to the amblyopia and strabismus deviation for 3-6 months. Results After 3-6 months of press-on prism,vision increasd in 18 cases,unchanged in 12 cases,decreased in 10 cases; esotropic deviation increased in 10 cases,unchanged in 15 cases,decreased in 15 cases; binocular vision improvd in 32 cases measured with synoptophore. Conclusions Press-on prism may be helpful for binocular vision recovery in concomitant esotropia,so as improve the surgical success rate.
