Abstract

In order to effectively control the quality of cigarettes during production, the FMEA(Failure Mode and effects analysis) was applied in the risk management of product quality in the process of cigarette manufacturing according to the production characteristics and quality requirements of cigarette. After determining the key risk factors needed to be focused on by grading all risk factors, an FMEA method for the risk management of cigarette quality was developed, and an FMEA model for the risk management of product quality in the process of cigarette making and packing was established. The results showed that: FMEA product quality risk management could identify and control the risk points of cigarette quality throughout the manufacturing flow, which reduced product's quality risk and production cost effectively. The consumption of cigarette paper, filter rod and label decreased from 3220 to 3217 meters/case, 8395 to 8382 rods/case, 2512 to 2507 pieces/case, respectively. The production management level was improved.
