Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the characteristic of latency of evoked potential and monitoring brain function following acute ischemic stroke in rats. The model of acute ischemic stroke in rats was made by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). All animals of ischemic stroke were detected latency of somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) and motor evoked potential (MEP) after different durations of (12 h, 1 d, 3 d), the cerebral blood flow (rCBF) was also measured by hydrogen cleaning method after MCAO, the result were compared with normal control group. The result showed that the latency of positive wave 1 (PI), negative wave 1(N1) and positive wave 2 (P2) waves in SEP were significantly prolonged after MCAO, the level of rCBF was significantly lower than that of previous occlusion. The evoked potential, might be relation to the rCBF, the ischemic stroke could cause prolonged the latency of motor evoked potential waves, evoked potential might be applied to evaluate the ischemic stroke.
