Abstract

The document 'Common European Language Framework', approved by the Council of Europe in 2000, represents the basis for development of didactical instruments for improving, planning, performing, managing, self-evaluating and obtaining the quality of language teaching and learning. Based on this document, didactical instrument ESP was created. Application of ESP in learning a mother tongue abroad influences improvement of consciousness about multi linguism and to positive transfer of strategies of learning and language competencies. In this paper, the author points at different possibilities of application of this instrument, as well as positive influence of self-evaluation of students which stresses positive examples of students' achievements, strengthens their self confidence and enables conscious transfer of pre-knowledge and experience of other fields of language. Students are motivated for active relation towards the process of learning and this enables them to get to know weaker and stronger parts of their abilities. The use of the instrument ESP we are stressing the positive attitude about the mother tongue and culture of the predecessors, as well as their bicultural identity. We are starting from students' pre-knowledge and experience of other language fields, and we are enabling conscious transfer of them, and indirectly we are connecting all actors of teaching and the teaching process.
