Abstract

Objective To explore the new indication of endoscopic third ventriculostomy in the treatment of children with communicating hydrocephalus.Methods 32 children with communicating hydrocephalus eceived endoscopic third ventriculostomy from January 2008 to July 2011.The effects of the third ventriculostomy were evaluated by Recovery Rate (RR) and the imaging examination.Results 23 (72%) cases succeeded for the first time,and the average operation failed again for 2.76 times,and the average time was 13.28 months.The average RR was 7.86 ± 1.19 for the first operation success.Conclusions Endoscopic third ventriculostomy could be considered as the first choice for the treatment of communicating hydrocephalus in children.
