Abstract

In this study, the Hilbert–Huang transform was used in bearing fault diagnosis to identify the inner and outer race defect, roller defect, and double outer race defects. The empirical mode decomposition process was utilized to decompose the signal into a number of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). The IMFs revealing the amplitude modulation phenomenon were selected for the further analysis. The fast Fourier transform was employed to acquire the frequency-domain characteristics of single defect. The temporal characteristics of double defect were extracted using the proposed relative period spectrum analysis. The support vector machine was used for the final identification of the different bearing faults.
