Abstract

Three newly developed types of electric fibrous dust filters are herein discussed analytically and experimentally. They are a fibrous filter packed with electrically conductive graphite fibers and a dielectric fibrous filter. The electric effect on collection efficiency is remarkable. Effects of various design and operational variables on collection efficiency are calculated and checked experimentally by use of monodisperse aerosol. In comparison with conventional fibrous filters, higher efficiency can be achieved with lower pressure drop for the new types.
