Abstract

In this paper, an application of decision trees for automatic classification of musical instrument sounds is presented. The sounds are described using feature vector, based on wavelet analysis. Decision trees are used for assessment of parameters applied to the sound, and the structure of the generated trees allows evaluation of the role of particular parameters in the decision process. The experiments concerning audio signal classification using decision trees are presented in the paper, and the results are also discussed.
