Abstract

In order to determine p-cresol and m-cresol isomers in cigarette smoke, the comparison experiments on the separation and detection of seven harmful phenols in cigarette smoke by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography were performed before and after that β-cyclodextrin(β-CD) was added into the mobile phase. The results indicated that :1) when the concentration of β-CD in aqueous solution was 5.29×10-3 mol/L,the target analytes,p-cresol,m-cresol,catechol,resorcinol,hydroquinone,phenol,and o-cresol,were completely separated; 2) the recoveries of the seven phenols ranged from 92.9% to 102.4% with the RSDs of 1.78% to 4.33%.
