Abstract

Dielectric track detectors of CR-39 were applied for assessment of a fluence and a spatial distribution of the 140 MeV 14 N ion beam produced at the isochronous cyclotron U-240 to irradiate root tip meristematic cells of Pisum sativum . A sketch of a plant cell irradiation at the cyclotron, electron micrographs of etched detectors with the surface track densities 1.6 × 10 8 and 3.3 × 10 8 tracks cm −2 as well as the data on the yield of radiation-induced micronuclei in the plant cells for the LETs from 1 to 300 keV μm −1 are presented.
