Abstract

Objective To evaluate the application of clinical pathway in patients with lumbar disc herniation who were treated with discectomy. Methods 48 patents were randomly divided into the control group and the test group, 24 patents in each group. The control group was managed in traditional mothods while the test group was managed in clinical pathway. The clinical results, patient satisfaction,average length of stay and hospital charges were compared and statistically analyzed between two groups.Results After the clinical pathway application, the hospital residence day and medical cost were decreased and the health knowledge and satisfactory rate of the patients were enhanced, although, there were no significant differences in treatment effects between two groups. Conclusion The application of clinical pathway in patients with lumbar disc herniation who were treated with discectomy can improve the overall health care quality and efficiency of health care work as well as the satisfactory rate of the patients.
