Abstract
Aiming at shortcomings of existing handover algorithms which do not apply to voice and data mix traffic, and considering the wide use of TD-SCDMA technology in personal mobile communications, a baton handover strategy with channel reservation and preemptive priority mechanism is proposed. The strategy reserves channels for voice handover calls, sets different priorities to different handover calls according to their properties, gives new voice calls and handover calls preemptive priority over channels serving the data service. Simulation results show that the strategy decreases blocking probabilities of high-priority voice handover calls, and reduces the data call blocking probability, queue length and time delay. As a result, the strategy increases the carry capacity of the system in hybrid traffic, and improves QoS of the system for mobile users.
