Abstract

Barban (4-chloro-2-butynyl-m-chloro-carbonilate) was applied to wild oats (Avena fatua L.) by a standard and two low-profile nozzles under greenhouse and field conditions. A standard 650067 spray nozzle resulted in unsatisfactory wild oat control when used under windy conditions. This was due primarily to spray drift. Negligible spray drift occurred with a low profile 650067 system, but wild oat control was erratic. A wide-angle 115015 nozzle gave effective wild oat control and was not subject to spray drift.
