Abstract

Modern energy control centres utilized for electric utility control and monitoring are required to provide real-time security assessment. Maintenance of power system security is a technological challenge as the power systems are now operated much closer to security limits. The paper proposes a new approach to on-line transient stability analysis. The method combines transient energy function methodology with artificial neural networks. Case studies are presented to illustrate the suitability of the proposed approach.
