Abstract

Doubly Fed Induction Generators are mainly used in the wind applications. In this paper, a new method for reactive power compensation in wind farms is proposed by using DSTATCOM with the Kohonen Learning neural network (KLNN) based control algorithm. This KLNN control strategy is used to pull out reference currents from the load conductance and susceptance to generate IGBT activation pulses. The proposed approach was examined in the Simulink model in MATLAB.
