Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is presented as an ubiquitous solution to most of the business challenges, today. Indeed AI has enabled significant advancement in certain areas of business e.g. (i) automation supplemented by AI in the manufacturing industry has taken automobile manufacturing companies to the cusp of rolling out driverless cars, and (ii) home automation systems have progressed to replenish groceries and milk with networked process between refrigerators and your favorite supermarket chain. But the same cannot be said about applying AI in Management Information Systems. It is important to assess and get an understanding of how much of progression has happened in effectively using AI in different areas of MIS. This review paper presents an overview of, if and how application of AI in MIS has evolved over the last few decade and whether it has progressed in all types if MIS.
