Abstract

In order to design a suitable pipeline stress system, accurately calculate the stress value of the pipeline, and avoid repeated modeling, the Caesar II software from COADE Company of America was used as an example to test the pipeline stress; at the same time, combined with the integration mode of 3D design software, the structures of the planar graphics files, the structure of 3D design database, and the contents of marked elements in the graphics files were analyzed and compared with the traditional equivalent stiffness algorithm; in addition, the method of extracting properties of the graphic entity elements from the 3D design database and extracting the graphics entity element coordinates from the graphics files was illustrated. The two essential and independent computational analysis software in engineering design, namely stress analysis software and 3D design software, were researched and applied in terms of integration; therefore, they could complete the works of stress analysis and 3D design in the design of long-distance pipelines based on a unified 3D design model, thereby reducing the repeated modeling. The results have proven that the pipeline stress analysis software combined with the 3D design software could be better applied in pipeline engineering design.
