Abstract

Abstract: The main theme of this paper is based on the following premise: “aerial photointerpretation and computer storage and manipulation of data provide new and more accurate tools and techniques for cartographic representation and land planning”. To better explain this statement, a sample case study of a parkway location is presented. Parkway is defined in the United States as an arterial highway for noncommercial traffic with full or partial control of access, and usually located within a park or a ribbon of parklike development.1 The paper will concentrate on the physical characteristics of the parkway. Other factors including social, cultural, economic, aesthetic, and political were considered, but for the sake of clarity will be omitted from the paper.
