Abstract

This paper describes a system of analysis for the rapid determination of mercury content in samples taken from Monte Amiata mines. The technique is based on the counting of Hg XK-rays excited by a 57Co source. Signal processing unit is characterized by an Automatic Gain Control Amplifier in order to correct pulse amplitude errors caused by detector or main amplifier gain shifts.
