Abstract

The problem of determining the best operating policy for a small storage reservoir or pond was solved by means of a simulation model based on a simple conceptual hydrologic model developed for rainfall‐runoff relations for the watershed contributing to the pond. The hydrologic model is represented by a single element described by one parameter and having only one state variable. The simple model was found to give an adequate representation of the watershed for the particular problem for which it was used.
