Abstract

A statistical model of self-exciting point processes was applied to describe the afterpulse phenomenon of photomultiplier tubes (PMTs). Occurrence times of PMT dark pulses were measured and by fitting the model to the data the occurrence-rate change of the afterpulse was estimated as a function of the lapse after the generating pulse.
