Abstract

Optimal power flow calculation, used to optimize specific aspects of power systems operations, usually employs standard mathematical programming techniques. These techniques are not suitable to handle many practical considerations encountered in power systems, including the uncertainty of the operating constraints. This paper presents the application of a fuzzy optimization technique to optimal power flow calculations. The developed method has been tested on a large-scale power system. Numerical results show that this method is promising for handling uncertain constraints in practical power systems.
