Abstract

Abstract A flow-injection spin-trapping ESR system using DMPO (5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline N-oxide) was developed for quantitative detection of the alkoxy radicals (•OR, R = C(CH3)2-C(+NH2Cl−)NH2) formed by thermal decomposition of AAPH (2,2′-azobis(2,4-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride). This system was applied to estimate the alkoxy radical elimination capacity of selected antioxidants by using Trolox (6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxylic acid), as a standard.
