Abstract
A prototype knowledge-based expert system has been developed for minimum weight design of steel plate girder highway bridges. This expert system, called PG-BRIDGE1, is a coupled system in which AI-based symbolic processing is combined with traditional numerical processing. The architecture of the system has been presented in an accompanying article 1. This paper presents an application and abbreviated consultation with PG-BRIDGE1.
